Mark Stern MD, MPH, Advisory Board Member, is a teacher, researcher, and consultant in correctional health care and former Health Services Director for the Washington State Department of Corrections. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Correctional Association, and the Society of Correctional Physicians, where he serves as the Chair of the Education Committee. Dr. Stern also serves as an affiliate assistant professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Washington. Previously, he served as the regional medical directors for Correctional Medical Services, Inc., and the New York State Department of Correctional Services, as the medical director of the Albany County Jail. Dr. Stern has provided consultation to a variety of federal courts, the United States Department of justice, and the United States Department of Homeland Security on matters related to correctional health care. He currently serves as the independent medical monitor of Miami-Dade County pursuant to its settlement with the United States Department of Justice.
